LY4086940 is an Eli Lilly obesity candidate with very little disclosed. This page lists every public record we have found that names it, in date order, and says what each one does and does not tell us.
What the public record shows
- First public record: April 25, 2025. ClinicalTrials.gov first posted the phase 1 study NCT06945419, which names LY4086940 in its title. Registry record
- Lilly’s own label is GGG Tri-Agonist III. It first appears on Lilly’s pipeline chart in the Q2 2025 earnings deck (August 7, 2025). The Q3 2025 deck (October 30, 2025) is the earliest Lilly document found that puts the label in the same row as NCT06945419 and the LY4086940 study title. Lilly document
- Phase 1 is marked complete (August 5, 2026). 219 participants were enrolled. No results are posted. Registry record
- Phase 2 was registered October 22, 2026. 460 people planned, nine oral LY4086940 arms plus placebo, weight change at week 32 as the main measure, start listed for November 2026. Registry record
- Not found in any record checked: the molecular structure, any dose amount, any result, or a nonproprietary (generic) name. Gap

A Lilly patent application on GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon tri-receptor agonists is published
What it says. Lilly filed the application on January 31, 2024. The world version, WO2024163535A1, published August 8, 2024, and the US version, US 2024/0270821 A1, published August 15, 2024. The title is “GIP/GLP1/GCG tri-receptor agonists and uses thereof,” and the text says the polypeptides can be given under the skin or by mouth.
What it leaves out. It never mentions LY4086940 or any other Lilly code, so it does not show that this patent covers the program. Treat it as background on what Lilly has described in this class, not as a link.

ClinicalTrials.gov lists a phase 1 study of LY4086940
What it says. The study, NCT06945419, is titled “A Study of LY4086940 in Healthy Participants and Participants With Overweight or Obesity, With or Without Type 2 Diabetes.” It was submitted April 18, first posted April 25 and started April 23, 2025. The sponsor is Eli Lilly and Company. The record describes four parts with oral dosing and a fifth with a single intravenous dose, at sites in Florida, Texas and Singapore.
What it leaves out. No dose amounts, no mechanism, no drug class and no name other than the code.

Lilly’s ADA investor slides show an “oral GGG peptide”
What it says. Slide 8 shows an oral GGG peptide labelled as a GLP-1, GIP and glucagon agonist, next to retatrutide, which carries the same receptor label. Slide 27 lists it again among oral and long-acting multifunctional incretins.
What it leaves out. The slides do not name LY4086940 or GGG Tri-Agonist III beside this peptide. The shared “GGG” wording points that way, but Lilly does not say in these slides that they are the same molecule, and they give no sequence, dose or result.

“GGG Tri-Agonist III” first appears on Lilly’s pipeline chart
What it says. The Q2 2025 earnings deck lists a program called GGG Tri-Agonist III on slide 16, the pipeline chart. The Q4 2024 and Q1 2025 decks have no mention of the label.
What it leaves out. No trial number, drug code or description comes with the label on that slide.

Lilly puts the label and the LY4086940 study in the same row
What it says. In the Q3 2025 earnings deck, slide 16 (the pipeline chart, dated October 28, 2025) lists GGG Tri-Agonist III again. Slide 45, a list of select early-phase trials, has a row for it with NCT06945419, the LY4086940 study title, phase 1, 165 patients and both completion dates listed as April 2026.
What it leaves out. This is the earliest Lilly document found that ties the label to the code. It gives no mechanism, structure or dose.

- Feb 42026Lilly document
The Q4 2025 deck shows a larger study and a later finish line
What it says. Slide 18 (pipeline chart, dated February 3, 2026) still lists GGG Tri-Agonist III. Slide 51 repeats the NCT06945419 row with 201 patients and the same April 2026 completion dates, using ClinicalTrials.gov data from January 23, 2026.
What it leaves out. Still no mechanism, structure or dose. It is the last Lilly deck checked that carries the label.

- Jan 13 to Sep 302026Not mentioned
Five Lilly presentations in 2026 do not mention it
What it says. A full-text search of the slides from the JPMorgan conference (January 13), the Q1 earnings call (April 30), the ADA investor event (June 6), the Q2 earnings call (August 5) and the EASD analyst call (September 30) finds no GGG Tri-Agonist III, no LY4086940 and no NCT06945419.
What it leaves out. Lilly’s decks show selected programs only, so a missing label does not mean the program changed. The registry shows it moving forward in the same months.

- Aug 52026Registry record
The phase 1 study is marked complete
What it says. The registry lists the study as completed on August 5, 2026, the same day as its primary completion date, with 219 participants enrolled. Lilly’s earlier slides had listed 165 and then 201 patients, and both slides had projected April 2026 for completion. The main measure was serious side effects related to the study drug through week 9.
What it leaves out. No results are posted: no weight change, no side-effect data, no drug levels and no dose amounts.

A phase 2 study is registered
What it says. NCT07890376 was submitted October 16 and first posted October 22, 2026. It plans 460 adults aged 18 to 75 to take oral LY4086940 or a placebo. There are nine LY4086940 arms, labelled Dose 1 to Dose 6, with two titration schedules on Dose 3 and three on Dose 6. The main measure is percent change in body weight at week 32. The status is not yet recruiting, with a start listed for November 2026, primary completion in January 2028 and completion in June 2028. It lists 46 sites, 39 in the US and 7 in Argentina, and runs under a Lilly master protocol (W8M-MC-CWMM) that covers several drugs.
What it leaves out. The dose labels carry no milligram amounts, and no results exist yet.

A tracker lists nine China tablet applications
What it says. YaoGeJu, a Chinese drug-review tracker built on the public acceptance lists of China’s drug regulator (the CDE), shows nine entries for LY4086940 tablets accepted on October 30, 2026. Each is labelled an import application, Class 1, with Eli Lilly and Company and Lilly (Beijing) Medical Technology Innovation Co. Ltd. as applicants. The tracker’s weekly report for October 27 to November 2, 2026 ranks Lilly first by new acceptances that week, with 9 filings for 1 drug.
What it leaves out. We have not seen the regulator’s own record, and the tracker’s drug-detail pages need a login. Nine application numbers do not mean nine strengths, and acceptance of a filing is not approval. No doses, structure or trial documents came with it, and we found no comment from Lilly.

What is still not public
None of the records above, and none of the other sources we have checked, gives any of the following.
- The molecular structure or amino-acid sequence. The patent application above is general and never names the code.
- Any dose amount. Both registry records use study-part and dose-level labels, not milligram amounts.
- Any result, including weight change, side effects or blood levels. The phase 1 record has no results posted.
- A nonproprietary (generic) name.
- A Lilly statement, about LY4086940 itself, of which receptors it acts on. The ADA 2025 slides label an oral GGG peptide a GLP-1, GIP and glucagon agonist, but do not name LY4086940 next to it.
For the reasoning behind the oral triple-agonist reading, see the write-up on the identity puzzle. For the trials, dose disclosure and status in one place, see the LY4086940 profile.
Questions readers ask
What is LY4086940?
An investigational obesity candidate from Eli Lilly and Company. It has been tested in people by mouth in phase 1 (with one intravenous dose part) and a phase 2 study is registered. Lilly’s slides label the program GGG Tri-Agonist III. What the molecule is chemically has not been disclosed.
When did LY4086940 first become public?
ClinicalTrials.gov first posted a study naming it on April 25, 2025. Lilly’s program label, GGG Tri-Agonist III, first shows on Lilly’s pipeline chart in the August 7, 2025 earnings deck, in the decks checked.
Is GGG Tri-Agonist III the same as LY4086940?
Lilly’s Q3 2025 and Q4 2025 decks put the label and the LY4086940 study (NCT06945419) in the same row, so they are the same program.
Has LY4086940 been tested in people?
Yes. The phase 1 study completed on August 5, 2026 with 219 participants enrolled, and no results are posted. A phase 2 study with 460 planned participants is registered and not yet recruiting.
Has Lilly said what LY4086940 does?
Not in any document checked. Lilly’s ADA 2025 slides show an oral GGG peptide labelled as a GLP-1, GIP and glucagon agonist, but they do not name LY4086940 next to it. The identity write-up explains why the connection is reasonable and why it is not confirmed.
