This is a running log of petrelintide news, kept to what sponsors, journals and the trial registry have actually published. Each entry names its source and how reliable that type of source is. Last updated 31 October 2026.

Quick answer: The most recent petrelintide news is the 7 October 2026 ZUPREME-2 topline in type 2 diabetes, which reported 7.4% to 9.2% weight loss at week 28 versus 2.0% on placebo.[6] The peer-reviewed ZUPREME-1 paper appeared on 29 September 2026,[5] and three Phase 3 trials are recruiting.[8][9][10] No regulatory submission has been announced.
Petrelintide news arrives in three forms with very different weight: company announcements, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed papers. This page keeps them separate. For analysis rather than a log, see the amylin drug comparison, the dosage guide, the side-effects guide, the approval timeline and the comparison with semaglutide and tirzepatide. The drug profile is the petrelintide research entry.

| 7 Oct 2026 | Zealand announced ZUPREME-2 topline in 220 adults with type 2 diabetes: 7.4% to 9.2% weight loss at week 28 versus 2.0% on placebo; discontinuation for stomach or bowel events 1.9% versus 1.7%. First Phase 3 participants reported as treated.[6] | Company announcement (sponsor-reported) |
Percentages are as each source reports them and use the efficacy estimand where a weight figure is given. Sponsor announcements are not peer reviewed. Nothing here has been independently replicated.
What to watch next
These are the open items, with what the sources actually say about timing. A date marked “not stated” means the sponsor has not given one.

| Item | What is known | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Full ZUPREME-2 data | Expected at an upcoming scientific conference.[6] | Not stated |
| Petrelintide plus enicepatide, Phase 2 (NCT07589686) | 486 planned adults; listed as not yet recruiting on 30 October 2026.[11] | Primary completion November 2027 (registry) |
| Phase 3 ZUPREME-3, -4, -5 | Recruiting; week 64 primary endpoint.[8][9][10] | Primary completion October 2028 to July 2030 (registry) |
| Regulatory submission for petrelintide | None announced; the October 2026 announcement said nothing about filing.[6] | Not stated |
| CagriSema FDA decision (context) | Submitted 18 December 2025; the FDA was expected to review in 2026.[12] Drugs.com listed it as not approved on 26 October 2026.[13] | Not stated |
| Eloralintide ENLIGHTEN Phase 3 (context) | Six trials, 8,615 planned participants.[14] | Earliest primary completion January 2028 (registry) |
| REDEFINE 4 full publication (context) | Sponsor topline reported; no peer-reviewed paper was found.[15] | Not stated |
Registry dates are sponsor projections and change often. The approval timeline guide explains what they imply.
How to read a readout
The same drug can look different depending on where the number comes from. Here is a quick way to read each kind.
Swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Kind of source | What it is | How much weight to give it |
|---|---|---|
| Topline press release | The sponsor’s first summary of results, usually a few headline numbers. | Useful for direction. Selected and framed by the sponsor, with no outside review. |
| Conference poster or talk | A fuller data set shown at a meeting, often with extra figures. | More detail, but still not peer reviewed. Charts may show values the text does not. |
| Peer-reviewed paper | A journal article reviewed by outside experts, with the full methods. | The standard for published human evidence, though the sponsor may still have funded the trial. |
| Trial registry entry | The plan and status of a trial, entered by the sponsor. | Reliable for what a trial is designed to measure. Dates are projections. |
Two traps come up repeatedly. First, a weight-loss figure always depends on its estimand: the efficacy estimand counts people while they stay on treatment, which usually produces a larger number than analyses that count everyone as randomized. A figure without that label should not be compared with another. Second, “up to” numbers describe the best arm or the best time point, not an average. The comparison guide shows how much this matters when the figures sit next to semaglutide and tirzepatide.
Where updates come from
- Company announcements. Zealand Pharma publishes numbered company announcements, such as the 5 March and 7 October items cited above. Roche publishes investor updates.
- The trial registry. ClinicalTrials.gov lists status changes for ZUPREME-2, the Phase 3 trials and the combination trial.
- Journals. The ZUPREME-1 and Phase 1 papers are indexed in PubMed. No ZUPREME-2 or Phase 3 paper was found when this page was last updated.
- This site. The approval timeline and the ZUPREME-2 trial page cover related detail.
Frequently asked questions
What is the latest petrelintide news?
On 7 October 2026 Zealand Pharma announced topline results from ZUPREME-2, a Phase 2 trial in adults with type 2 diabetes: 7.4% to 9.2% weight loss at week 28 versus 2.0% on placebo. It is a company announcement, not a peer-reviewed paper.
Was ZUPREME-1 published?
Yes. It was published in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology on 29 September 2026 and had earlier been presented at the American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions in June 2026.
Has ZUPREME-2 been published?
Not in a peer-reviewed journal as of 31 October 2026. Zealand has said the full results are expected at an upcoming scientific conference, without naming one.
Are the petrelintide Phase 3 trials recruiting?
Yes. ZUPREME-3, ZUPREME-4 and ZUPREME-5 are listed as recruiting on ClinicalTrials.gov, and Zealand reported the first participants as treated on 7 October 2026.
Has petrelintide been submitted to the FDA?
No submission has been announced. The October 2026 announcement said nothing about filing for approval.
When is the next petrelintide readout?
No date has been given for the next one. Full ZUPREME-2 data are expected at a future conference, and Phase 3 primary completions are registered from October 2028.
What is a topline result?
It is a sponsor’s first summary of a trial’s main numbers, released before full data or peer review. It is useful for direction but is selected and framed by the company.
Bottom line
Petrelintide’s public record so far is two peer-reviewed publications (Phase 1 and ZUPREME-1), a company-announced ZUPREME-2 topline, a conference presentation, and a Phase 3 program in its first weeks. No filing has been announced, and the next dated milestones are open: full ZUPREME-2 data at a conference not yet named, and Phase 3 completions from late 2028. This log is revised when sources change, and every entry keeps its source type so sponsor claims and peer-reviewed findings stay separate.
